Kris' Story
In 2010 I quit my high-paying, stressful job so that I could explore my passions in life and figure out how to make money doing something that I love.
I believe that worrying about what other people think is the worst thing a person can do, and that if we all could just express what is truly in our hearts and minds then the world would be such a better place.
Here are three of the most terrifying and challenging things I have ever done:
*Spent a week alone in a cabin in the middle of nowhere, forced to be present with only my thoughts
*Walked 26 miles in one day
*Showed my penis to rooms full of strangers so that they could understand how foreskin restoration works
Useless trivia:
I was born and raised in Anchorage, AK and when I was 20 years old I moved to Phoenix, AZ where I lived for another 20 years. In my early 20s and 30s, I lived a typical life, went to school, had a corporate job, started my own business, got married, all that junk. Then I realized that chasing the American Dream had left me unhealthy, miserable and depressed. So I decided to leap way outside my comfort zone and start living the life I had always wanted. And just like everyone else who has ever done this, it has been the best decision I have ever made. Now my focus is on maintaining freedom and mobility and having zero obligations. I left Phoenix in August of 2020 and traveled throught the U.K. and the U.S.A. for 18+ months before landing in Maine and setting up a home base. In a camper. That’s a whole other story.
Katie's Story
Once upon a time I was also married, had a corporate job and lived a typical American life. Then bam! I had a powerful dream that prompted me to dive into birth work professionally and crumble all elements of my disconnected mainstream life.
Shortly after, I got divorced, traveled Europe solo, returned home, and fell in love with my best friend (Kris!) of many years.
Being an entrepreneur has shaped and shifted over the years, and now I spend most of my time writing, editing, designing, and oversharing on Instagram. My goal has always been to have freedom and flexibility and I have achieved being primarily a lady of leisure after many long hard years working to get to that place.
I was born in Phoenix and lived there until August 2020 when we both cracked the nut of making money online and were able to be location independent. In March of 2022, we bought a camper and parked it on our friends property in Maine so that we’d have a home base to travel to and from.
You can often find me: binge drinking Earl Grey, baking something with Gilmore Girls on in the background, cooking up our next travel adventure, or laying in the hammock with a book.
How Cock & Crow came to be.....
Our work has always overlapped as we tried (and failed) at many entrepreneurial ventures over the years - authoring books together, recording podcasts as a duo, blogging about complimentary subjects, etc. The name Cock & Crow came as a suggestion from a friend and seemed fitting: Kris being the Cock since he is the master of backyard chickens and is restoring his foreskin, Katie being the Crow since she's always on about something. The similar sounds to both of our first names helped, too. Even though this is less of a professional website these days, it’s still our home on the interwebs, and we love keeping a travel blog to share with friends and to have for us to look back on.
